Breaching, the act of launching itself almost completely through the surface of the ocean, is a very common behavior of the Humpback Whale and truly a site to see.Not mentioned very much is the fact that many Humpbacks pass along south eastern ( Puna ) coast of the Big Island. In this painting it appears a Humpback is breaching so

that it may get a better view of the volcano lava pouring into the ocean during sunset.
